Role overview
\n \nThe team supports critical infrastructure for the largest clean energy provider in North America. The role combines deep technical skill, technical leadership, and a understanding of regulatory knowledge (NERC CIP is what they will have to learn).
\n \nResponsibilities
\n· Manage enterprise firewall infrastructure, processing 450+ change requests a year with zero network impact
\n· Oversee implementation and maintenance of 20,000+ firewall rules supporting NextEra Energy and FPL business operations
\n· Provide technical leadership across multiple data centers and drive continuous improvement
\n· Mentor and develop team members
\n· Design, plan, and deploy network infrastructure, and find and fix potential issues before they affect operations
\n· Perform complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis with advanced diagnostic tools
\n· Ensure network operations comply with NERC CIP and other regulatory requirements
\n· Serve as Lead Firewall Engineer on critical IT-OT network segmentation projects
\n· Perform quarterly Electronic Security Perimeter (CIP-005) compliance assessments across 120+ network segments and stay audit-ready
\n· Drive automation of firewall rule management, with zero security violations and zero customer impact
\n· Handle other job-related duties as assigned
\n \nMust-have skills
\n· Palo Alto firewalls
\n· Cisco Nexus (NX-OS), Cisco Catalyst, and IOS
\n· Ability to multi-task projects, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
\nStrong preferences
\n· NERC CIP experience, especially CIP-005 / Electronic Security Perimeter
\n· Experience with IT-OT segmentation
\n· Utility, energy, or other regulated critical-infrastructure background
\n· Firewall automation experience
\n· Arista switches (plus)
\n· Prior mentoring or lead experience
